Mother Cheetah

Having spent several days in the Southern section of the reserve, we’ve been fortunate to keep tabs on a Mother Cheetah and her young cubs.

A Close Encounter with a Cheetah Family

One morning, as we headed South into the reserve, we spotted the cheetah and her two little ones feeding on a large Waterbuck. The Waterbuck had apparently been in a fight and succumbed to its injuries. Getting so close and personal with these magnificent cats was an incredible experience. The mother cheetah spent nearly two days on the Waterbuck, fortunately undisturbed by the Southern pride of lions or other predators in the area.

Flourishing in the Southern Section of the Reserve

Over the next few days, we observed the little family with two additional kills, both impala, indicating that they are flourishing and actively exploring the entire Southern section of the reserve. Watching this cheetah family together has been a truly special experience for every guest who has been here at Mhondoro with us.
